✦ Once upon a time, a storyteller found her way to games…

Hi! I’m Leonie, and I create worlds people can experience.

I’m a Creative Media and Game Technologies student at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, where my role is Designer Engineer. I write books as LunaraMoon, and my dream is to become a game and narrative designer.

Chapter I · About me

The story so far

My passion for storytelling started at a young age. I’ve always loved being creative, imagining different worlds and bringing characters to life. Over time, this passion grew into writing my own books, allowing me to create entire worlds through words.

While studying for my Associate Degree in Social Work, I realised that I wanted to take my creativity even further. I loved creating worlds in my books, but I wanted people to be able to experience those worlds themselves. That’s when I discovered that game design was the direction I wanted to follow.

A little more about me

I’m a social, creative, flexible, and independent person who loves learning new things and taking on challenges. I’m also organised, detail-oriented, and enjoy working with others to bring ideas to life.

My background in Social Work has taught me to look at situations from different perspectives and understand people’s feelings and needs. I believe this is valuable in game design, where understanding the player is just as important as creating an interesting game.

Chapter II · Why stories matter to me

Games are more than entertainment. They can teach us, understand our needs, and give us a world to escape into when we need a break from our own.

Leonie

I believe games have the power to connect with people in different ways. They can help us learn, understand emotions, experience new perspectives, or simply give us a place to escape from everyday life. Every player is different, and I love how games can offer something meaningful to each of them.

Chapter III · My ambition

The chapter I’m writing next

My dream is to become a game and narrative designer, combining my love for storytelling with my passion for creating interactive experiences.

I want to design imaginative worlds, memorable characters, engaging gameplay and meaningful choices that allow players to become part of the experience. Storytelling is one of my biggest passions, and I’m also excited to explore the many other sides of game design, from gameplay mechanics and level design to creating unique player experiences.

With my background in Social Work, I also hope to create games that make a positive difference in people’s lives, by teaching them something new, helping them feel understood, or giving them a place where they can simply be themselves.

My next step

I would love to gain experience through an internship at a creative game studio, where I can grow as a designer, learn from experienced developers and contribute my own ideas.

Chapter IV · My work

Step into my worlds

I’ve dreamed of writing stories for as long as I can remember. Today I create worlds in words, in games and in interactive activities.

Books and Stories

My writing journey started with fanfiction on YouTube and grew on Wattpad under the name LunaraMoon. My first original book received such a positive response that I’m now working towards getting it officially published.

Games I Created

At Saxion I’m building my first games in Unity and C#. Here you’ll find each project with screenshots, maps and the story behind it.

Interactive Projects

Instead of only talking about difficult topics, I turn them into games. A game holds people’s attention for longer and really reaches them, so they think, talk and connect while they play.

Chapter V · Experience

My journey so far

Now

Creative Media and Game Technologies

First-year student at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, with the role of Designer Engineer. I’m learning to design games and build them myself in Unity with C#.

Before

Associate Degree in Social Work

During my studies and internships I learned to understand people’s feelings and needs. I noticed that a conversation alone couldn’t always hold people’s attention for as long as needed, and didn’t always truly reach them. So I turned those conversations into games: people stay engaged, feel connected and learn while they play.

All along

Writer as LunaraMoon

From fanfiction on YouTube to original stories on Wattpad, I’ve built an audience of readers and I’m working towards publishing my first book.

Chapter VI · Skills

What I bring to a team

As a first-year student, I’m developing my technical skills step by step. Each project gives me the chance to experiment, solve problems and grow more confident in the technical side of game development.

Unity · Game development

I’m learning to build 3D environments, create levels, work with game objects and implement interactive elements.

C# · Programming

I’m learning the fundamentals of C#, including writing scripts, working with variables and programming basic gameplay mechanics.

Storytelling and design

  • Worldbuilding and character creation
  • Writing stories for a real audience
  • Designing interactive activities with a purpose

Soft skills

  • Social, creative and flexible
  • Independent and eager to learn
  • Organised and detail-oriented
  • Understanding people’s feelings and needs
  • Enjoys working in a team

Chapter VII · Interests

Outside of game design

When I’m not studying or creating stories, I love spending time on my other hobbies. Music is a big part of my life, and I enjoy listening to music, singing, and playing the guitar.

I also love reading, playing games, watching films, spending time in nature, and baking. I enjoy practising Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and swimming as well.

Whether I’m discovering a new fictional world through a book, exploring a game, or enjoying the outdoors, I’m always finding new inspiration for my own creative projects.

To be continued…

I don’t just want to tell stories. I want to create worlds people can experience, connect with and remember.
